I taught my very first yoga class at my studio last week, and it was one of our Friday “Community Classes.” These classes are donation based and all the money goes to charity. We also have a little bit more fun with them, so music is a YES!
I had so much fun coming up with a good playlist. I’m not a huge music person (I tend to like old music more than new stuff and don’t really seek it out) but I got a Spotify account so I could find a bunch of stuff and make good playlists for my future classes. I’m loving all of the songs I’ve discovered and rediscovered!
The playlist ended up being perfect. It’s about 55 minutes long, so perfect to start just after some welcome/child’s pose/ opening poses and end right with savasana. The beats work well for a more vigorous standing series and get a little slower and softer toward more of the ending stretches. And then sweet, sweet rest with some beautiful Enya.
I’ll try to share more of these as I put them together. I’ve been using it for home practices too! It’s nice to have a feel for how long you’re practicing for (through which song you’re on!) rather than constantly looking at a clock. Enjoy!!
