I’ve kind of gotten into a “Monday Run-Day” groove. After a rest day on Sunday my legs are usually ready for a run, while later in the week they can be sore from CrossFit.
I’m going to slowly start increasing my mileage (like VERY slowly) so I can think about some races in the fall, so instead of my standard 5 miles I’ve been trying to get up to 6 or 7. Monday morning I went to the gym with 6 miles on the brain and simply lengthened my 5-mile Increasing Interval Run. I like that this run helps my endurance by pushing the time I spend running at a 7:30 pace. I’d love to get comfortable there and run some speedy races in a few months!
On another note, I’m going to start going to CrossFit after work a few times a week (I can’t on nights I have health coaching clients). The morning class is very mixed-level and also tends to be rushed since we all need to get to work. In the afternoon there are a few more coaches there that can help me with my weaknesses – olympic lifting and gymnastics. So that’s why I ran in the morning yesterday instead of CrossFit at 6am.
On a third note, I’m still loving my Brooks Pure Cadence. One, they are freaking neon pink and just looking at them makes me want to run. Two, they are super light and make heel striking harder. It forces me to hit mid-foot and improves my form, but I still have the arch support I need.
- Any races coming up for you?
- Are you running on treadmills or outside right now?
