This weekend is a little nuts for me!! I have a big AAMC conference in downtown St. Louis and yoga teacher training out in the county. I’m kind of running around like a chicken with my head cut off, but I thought I’d quickly pop in and let y’all know what’s going on.
The conference is a Professional Development Conference for the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC.) I am my class’ representative and so I’m getting to meet with all the other medical student representatives from around the country, along with administration and faculty.
It just worked out that this summer’s was in St. Louis. In the future I’ll get to travel — Seattle this November!!
It’s been a huge learning curve for me since I’m new to the AAMC role, but super cool to hear about what’s going on at other medical schools. It’s all about sharing new ideas to try to improve our medical education. The opportunity to work with the people high up and in charge at AAMC, the sort of governing body for all medical schools, is pretty amazing. (If you’re a medical student or going to be, apply to be your school’s OSR!!)
I also got to present my first poster! We started a Business in Medicine elective at SLU and got lots of interests from other medical schools on how they could do the same.
Right after the conference on Friday I rushed to Yoga Teacher Training for the night, and today (Saturday) I’m actually skipping conference sessions to be at Yoga Teacher Training all day. I’ll meet up with everyone from the conference tonight and potentially tomorrow morning for a morning meeting before I go back to YTT.
It’s been busy!!! But oh, so fun.
Then Monday after all the madness ends I’m hopping the pond over to Ireland. Despite the craziness, I’m feeling so grateful for all the wonderful opportunities I have.
Have a great Saturday!!
