Oh hello!
I skipped blogging yesterday because I was way to busy living it up in a teeny tiny town in South Texas. That’s a blatant lie – there isn’t much to do there – but I was busy spending time with P.

(P and I during a beach run in Corpus Christi, which is not where P actually lives. We traveled to find water. This looks remarkably similar to the pictures we took on our beach run in San Diego. Apparently we like beach runs.)
I am home now after a 2 hour plane ride and 55 degree temperature drop. I was really interested in the answers you guys gave me to my questions, so I figured I’d share!
And also I’m going to insert random pictures from the weekend throughout.

Being lazy on the couch. Which is how we spent most of the weekend.
Blog Questions:
- On my Iphone WordPress app, what does it mean that some of my posts are “local?”
According to Katie, this means I saved the post to my phone, but not to my site. I think this could be the times that I write posts on my laptop and save them as drafts, but then officially click “publish” from my phone. I still cant figure out if this is bad or how to change it.
- Why are my images loading sideways in WordPress? How do I get the rotating to work correctly?
A few of you said you were having this issue as well, especially with photos from iphones. I know there is an “edit image” feature that allows you to rotate the images, but even when I do that they still appear sideways. Soo…still need help.
- What’s the proper way to tag/name pictures for SEO?
Emily and Danielle said that it’s important to use detailed phrases when you tag photos. Danielle also said that matching a few words from the title/caption to the tag (or alt text) is helpful.

YOU Questions:
- Do you sleep with earrings in?
Most of you said no! A few said small studs, and a few said that other piercings (cartilage etc) stay in. Apparently I should start taking mine out.
- How much sleep do you NEED. My mom only needs 6-7. I am an 8 or 9.
It seemed like most people said around 7-8, but most get less. A few said only 6-7 and then a few were like me and needed more like 8-9. Lots said they function on less during the week, but that just does not work for me. I crash after even one night of too little sleep.
- Have you seen Top Gun?
A lot of “no” responses here, but a few “yeses” were “OMG YES YOU HAVE TO SEE IT!” I am happy to report that P and I watched it Sunday night and it was great! Tom Cruise is a little baby in it, and it’s kind of ridiculous, but was really cool for me to watch since that what P does!! The movie was one of the first things that got him interested in being a Navy pilot and I think my jaw was dropped (in awe and fear) for lots of it.
- Do you prefer to drive on road trips or be passenger?
Most said passenger, but many said they like to switch off and on. I normally switch just because it’s fair, but definitely prefer to ride…if I can read and be rude to the driver by not talking to them. Or sometimes I read trashy magazines TO them which I am pretty sure is the most annoying thing ever. I hate when it gets dark and you can’t read anymore though. Thank goodness for my Nook.
- Do you know what King Cake is?(P didn’t and I was shocked.)
How do you all you people not know what King Cake is!!?? From the ever faithful Wikipedia…
“A King Cake is a type of cake associated with the festival of Epiphany in the Christmas season in a number of countries, and in other places with the pre-Lenten celebrations of Mardi Gras / Carnival.
In theUnited States, Carnival is traditionally observed in the Southeastern region of the country, particularly in New Orleans, Mobile, AL, other towns and cities of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, on the southeast Texas island of Galveston, and Louisiana. In this region, the king cake is closely associated with Mardi Gras traditions and is served throughout the Carnival season, which lasts from Epiphany Eve to Fat Tuesday.
The cake has a small trinket (often a small plastic baby, said to represent Baby Jesus) inside (or sometimes placed underneath), and the person who gets the piece of cake with the trinket has various privileges and obligations.”

King Cake.
Assignments:
1. Watch Top Gun if you haven’t
2. Buy and eat a King Cake.
3. Get ready for some Stella & Dot tomorrow!

I live in the South where Mardi Gras is ridiculously popular and even I didn’t know what a King Cake was until a few years ago when someone brought one in to work and I had to be ‘warned’ about it
I used to have King Cake every year in french class (I even had the piece with the baby once!), but I haven’t had it in years!
You’re right – everyone should watch Top Gun! One of my favorite movies. Can’t wait for Stella & Dot – another one of my faves
Yum king cake. I’ve never had it but I do what know it is. And it looks delicious! I definitely need 8-9 hours of sleep every night no matter what. I turn into a cranky mess if I get much less.
THe whole social media thing is so confusing to me! I usually sleep in my diamonds but not hoops, pearls, etc!
I wish all assignments were as fun as the ones that you gave. I really dislike Tom Cruise, so it’s hard for me to watch any of his movies without whining. But I guess if I had a piece of cake alongside, I’d be able to deal.
Glad you had a chance to spend some time with your man. And I’ll take your word on Top Gun. Young Tom Cruise is much more bearable to watch than his current acting.
Fun answers to the questions!! It’s good to hear that you are enjoying Texas
Also, congrats on becoming a Greatist Ambassador! I have been looking into applying because I really love what they stand for and I really want to be apart of a community like that and continue to promote a healthy, well-balanced life with a group of people like that
Have a great week!
Corpus Christi, not Corpus Christie.
gracias for noticing!
