Y’all know I’m not going to talk something up for no reason. I gave you an honest review of Rodan & Fields (and am about to start the lightening regimen to see if a bigger difference is made) and wouldn’t tell you something was great if it wasn’t. So you can trust me when I tell you I am really, really into Beautycounter.
I watched Teri rave about Dew Skin for months (have you seen her skin!?) before I decided to try it out. My skin is pretty good, but I am approaching 30 and trying to find some good products to keep it looking fresh and young. I had been trying a bunch of different drugstore BB creams and tinted moisturizers but hadn’t found one I liked. They were all too thick and cakey. So I gave the Dew Skin a try.
At first I didn’t think it did much, but then I started to notice my skin was just a little brighter and more even each day. I started to notice when I didn’t wear it. It is just what I was looking for — light, “dewy!”, and just a little extra coverage. Now I wear it all the time since it feels like nothing on. So light! Plus, it gives me some sun protection. I’m definitely obsessed.
I really wasn’t all that influenced by the “natural” thing at the beginning, but once I saw that the products actually worked and had great, safe ingredients, I knew it was something I could really get into. The FDA has’t regulated skincare and makeup the same way it does drugs and medical devices since 1938, and there isn’t much safety data on the chemicals used in most standard beauty products. I am a medical student and I’m not at all anti-drug or chemical when it is safe and effective, but we just can’t say that for sure about things that aren’t FDA regulated. (My stance about most things is natural and chemical free if possible, but use the wonders of science & drugs if necessary – and in medicine they are often necessary.) Once I figured out Beautycounter made great, effective products without any questionable, funky ingredients (aka the “Never List”) I was on board.
I got to try the Eye Cream as a freebie and love the extra moisture it gives overnight. The Radiance Serum is just what I need as I approach 30, and I’m using it every morning after I wash my face. And then I tried a friend’s Terra Lip Sheer at my brother’s wedding and bought it right after! It’s the perfect natural shade to look just a little more polished when I’m at work.
I’m excited to be hosting my first Facebook Live “social” with Teri this Tuesday 7/25 from 8-9pm EST. Teri will be there to tell you more about the products (she has gotten to try way more of them than me!) and answer questions you may have. She was so helpful when I was first deciding what to try, from how well things actually work to what shades to get.
Here is the link to the Facebook Live video with TONS of info, product reviews, etc!
If you’re at all interested in learning more, check out the social video and see what it’s all about! No pressure whatsoever to buy. Seriously – I hate that. We all have budgets and other things going on, so do what you gotta do. I just know I have been really happy with the products, and you’ve probably seen Beautycounter all over the place. So feel free to see if it’s something you’d like and only purchase if you really want to. Here is the link to the social.
Let me know if you have any questions, and hope to “see” you Tuesday!
