Sharing my first day on a new pediatric team, a fun surprise from my mom, the necessary nap that kept me from the gym, and the BEST winter salad recipe!!
Hey friends! Just popping in to say hi and share a little about my day. It’s freezing here – hope you are staying warm wherever you are!
A New Team
It was my first day on a new pediatric team. I joined the “green” team, which sees renal and GI patients. This is brand new, actually! Normally renal and GI patients are covered by the general teams, but because the general teams are swamped with bronchiolitis patients in the winter, they are experimenting with offloading patients onto this green team.
Our residents and attending physicians are so wonderful. They are kind, listen, and teach. And we actually only have 6 total patients right now, so rounding was a breeze. It’s quite a change from the busyness of the general team I was on for the last two weeks!
I had time to get some studying done during the day due to the light patient load. I also had a little surprise during our lunch lecture – my mom gave it!! She always does this for the third year pediatric rotators, but she didn’t tell me it was today. So that was fun! I’m so proud of her:)

A Necessary Nap
I brought my workout clothes to work with me (and take them into the hospital so they don’t freeze in my car) intending to go to the gym. But I didn’t sleep well last night and had a pretty big headache. I was up every hour or so for some reason. I wavered back and forth on just going and sort of half-heartedly doing the elliptical, but ultimately decided what I really needed was a nap. So I went straight home, cozied up in bed with Winnie, and rested for about an hour.
I was really out of it when I woke up, but my head felt much better. I was still craving a little movement and sweat, just to wake me out of my fog if nothing else, and wound up doing this 30 minute cardio workout from PopSugar. I’ve been digging the home workout options lately! I just use google and search around until I find something good. I would definitely recommend this one!
The Best Winter Salad
My dinner was amazing! I’m not sure where I saw this Oh She Glows recipe, but I am so glad I gave it a try! I don’t normally make vegan recipes, but this looked too good and I decided I could just add chicken if I wanted to. Seriously, go make this Warm + Roasted Winter Salad!
The roasted potatoes feel so comforting on a cold winter day, the simple dressing is full of flavor, and it is completely satisfying with the combination of carbs, protein, and fats. The batch should last me for dinner all week, and I have a feeling this will be in my rotation quite often. YUM!!
Fun Fact: Angela from Oh She Glows was the first “big blogger” I ever reached out to 8 or 9 years ago. I loved one of her pancake recipes and just wanted to tell her! She was so sweet and wrote me back. I’ll never forget that:)
Time to get a little more work done and finish an episode of The Crown. Loving that show!! Have a great night!
