Man, oh man. It’s been a while!
I really want to be writing, but I’m making myself spend what used to be blogging/down time to study for boards. That’s how life will be for the next few weeks — I go to my iCal, and any time that is free gets a pink “STUDY FOR BOARDS” box. Right now I’m writing this while watching the Sanders v. Cruz debate. I’m studying a lot, but still trying to keep myself updated on everything going on with politics.
Speaking of the next few weeks, I’m officially in my last class of medical school. What!? We finished Endocrinology last week, and for the next three weeks we are taking Skin, Bone & Joint. After that we have 8 weeks off to study for and take step one of our boards exams before third year clerkships begin. Starting in May I’ll be seeing patients instead of sitting in the classroom – so crazy, but so awesome. Can’t wait!
For the past six weeks I’ve been spending one afternoon a week at the pediatric hospital. We are getting some practice doing histories and physicals, and one of the physicians helps us out, provides feedback, and discusses the cases with us. I loved it, and it makes me so excited for my pediatrics rotations next year. I wonder if its just the excitement of my first time in the hospital or if I really am meant for peds? This time next year I’ll probably know!
I’ve noticed that little stressors or anxieties are getting to me more lately – I think just because of the added background stress of a huge test coming up – so I’m really trying to make sure I take care of myself. I’ve been trying to focus on my health so I have the energy and focus I need. Not that I’m not usually pretty healthy, but I’ve been making more of an effort to meal prep, cut back on sugar, and make sure my workouts don’t slide with the added busyness.
I recently got a total steal on a month of ClassPass, and have loved trying out some new workout classes. I’ve done a spin class and a barre class so far, but have some bootcamps, pilates, and Shred415 on the agenda in the next few weeks. I totally love ClassPass and it makes me want to have it all the time…
We have had a few fun social events lately, still! We had a “kegs and diapers” party for a classmate whose wife is pregnant, I’ve grabbed dinner or drinks with friends from school, and I’ve seen some high school friends a few times, too. I’m currently obsessed with the black faux leather jacket I got on Black Friday. Sorry for the blurry photo.
And in perhaps the most adorable news, the dogs seem to be better friends these days! Winnie got a big hair cut and I think Gus thought it was a whole new dog. Sure Winnie still growls at him a bit, but sometimes they actually play! It’s so sweet.
Alright — debate almost over! Time to get a little bit more work done before bed. I hope I have a few minutes to read 10% Happier, too – I’m almost finished and LOVING it!
Hope you all are doing well!!
