Hi from Indianapolis! I just drove up from a day with Brittany in Louisville, and this weekend is all bout celebrating my best friend LB's 30th! I'm excited for lots of yoga, paddle boarding, girl talk and wine. I wanted to share a few things quickly with you today: 1 - Pound My first article for STLMag.com is up! I'll be occasionally contributing to their health column, and for this first one I tried out a POUND class. It's a choreographed workout using drum sticks that you bang around. . . .
Stuffing your white coat pockets with snacks is essential during third year. You never know when you'll get a break to eat! I've been trying to eat a substantial egg breakfast each morning because I know it'll be a while until my next meal, but it is not easy for me to eat a lot at 6:30am. Nuts and bars seem to be the easiest options to stash, and if you haven't tried Quest bars you are missing out! They are without a doubt the most delicious bars I've ever had, and even better is that they . . .
Have any of you tried one of the "Escape Room" places? We have them in St. Louis and I always see pictures of people going there for birthdays or just a different night out with friends. I haven't gone yet, but I did get a little feel for it when I hosted a game night. My guy friends play boardgames all the time, but they are some of the trendy complicated ones I've never gotten into. I suggested a bunch of people come over one Sunday night as a way to unwind before a new week of . . .
Hey everyone! Happy Friday! I had a GI test this morning and now I'm officially on Thanksgiving break! I head to Hilton Head with my family on Sunday and cannot wait for a week to relax and slow down a little. I definitely need to get studying in for boards, but I'm going to make sure to take lots of down time. It will be one of the last times I can before the crazy studying begins soon! Tom's Of Maine Deodorant I've got a little something different today -- a video! It's been a while . . .
Who here has a Facebook feed bombarded with Rodan & Fields, Beach Body, KEEP Collective or some other product being sold. **raises hand** They are all the rage these days!! I love seeing people so passionate about what they do and wanting others to share that same passion, but let's be honest...it can get to be a little much. Rodan & Fields One that has always tempted me, though, is Rodan & Fields. The before and afters I see are amazing!! Plus it was created by two . . .
Where do I even begin? You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life My best friend LB gave me this book as a birthday gift. Just based on the cover it looked like it would be at least funny/entertaining, but I've read a few books in the same vein so I set it aside while I worked on getting through my other book, Cutting for Stone. Cut to Spring Break, and I toss it in my bag along with three other books because I always have grand plans for . . .
Let me tell you the store of how I came to write this post about LaCroix. I love LaCroix. Everyone around me knows I love LaCroix because I basically have one on me at all times. I quite often get questions about "the weird thing I'm drinking." It's just sparkling water lightly flavored with essential oils from fruits. No sweetener, no artificial stuff. There are two reasons I drink LaCroix: It makes me drink water. I don't dislike water, I just can't get myself to drink enough . . .
So the back story: Friend of a friend that I've met a few times and moved to St. Louis with her husband about a year ago emails me to get together. I'm like YEAH FOR SURE and she recommends yoga so I'm like YES 100% and then she recommends this aerial yoga class and I'm like I LOVE YOU YES. I've seen aerial yoga and other aerial classes pop up everywhere and I'd been wanting to try it out. Turns out there was a class on Wednesday nights nearby, so I met her there. (Actually I drove by her, . . .
I've been seeing Orange Theory pop up on blogs lately, so when new friend Rachel asked me to try a class with her, I was all in. She signed me up for a Friday morning class, and I got there about 20 minutes early to learn the ropes. I filled out a form with my height, weight, and other identifying info, and they input my info into the system so they could link it to a heart rate monitor. I got a heart rate strap to put on right under my sports bra, and then they give you the . . .
I am part of the May 2011 Health Coach Training class at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, meaning my graduation from the year-long program is coming up at the end of April. That's crazy. I thought I'd take the time to reflect on how my education and involvement with the school has changed me in the past year, as both benefit to others considering the program and as a way to think through it myself. It took me a couple of months before I decided I wanted to enroll at IIN. In . . .
