Coming off a post on relationships...let's talk about an amazing date night in NYC! My boyfriend told me a little before my birthday, on the phone when we were both frustrated that plans to see each other had gotten cancelled, that he wanted to take me to a broadway show for my birthday. He had wanted to wait and tell me in person, but decided over the phone would have to do. We both needed the pick me up since we were kinda down about not being together. He had to tell me because he . . .
When we first graduated back in 2010, we ended up seeing each other fairly regularly at football games. Then people got busier, we got older, and and suddenly it felt like forever since I'd spent time with my best friends! We had our five year reunion, but also decided to start doing weekend trips at least every two years. Our first one was in Napa (here are the blog posts: Day one, Day two) and this year we took advantage of my parents' new place in Hilton Head. 7 of the 9 of us were able to . . .
Hey friends! I started my second block of Internal Medicine this week, and I'm at a different hospital just a few miles away from the med school. It's so different and way less busy, hence me having some time study AND blog tonight!! More on that in a sec, though. First I want to quickly recap my New York City trip this past weekend! New York City My boyfriend grew up near New York City, so I wanted to use my weekend off to go explore with him. We had a big flight debacle (which you may . . .
I am so incredibly grateful that my parents let me take friends down to the house they built on Hilton Head Island. It's about two years old now and I've managed to spend plenty of time there. They haven't retired yet, so I think they are happy to give it more use! We had a week off from clinicals, so I got to bring a few friends down an introduce them to the low country. Only one had been there before so it was fun to show them where I have been going almost my entire life. Anybody else big . . .
Last weekend I spent a whirlwind 30 hours in Florida celebrating my good friends Nicole and Valerio's wedding. Valerio is in my medical school class, and Nicole moved here from Florida to be with him so we've gotten to know her really well. They are both the sweetest, happiest people! And Valerio is from Italy, so we always get delicious food and wine:) The wedding was at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort, which was phenomenal. Great gym, stunning pool area, free beach . . .
I was SO impressed with Minneapolis! Somehow, despite going to camp nearby for 5 years as a kid, my aunt and uncle living there, and my little brother living there since college, I haven't spent much time in the city. I was there for a wedding a few years ago (Hi Molly!) but other than that, it had been a long time since I visited. I was happy to get to come up for my little brother and his fiance's last wedding shower! White skinnies | Sweater (old) - similar Saturday Saturday was . . .
I'm heading back from a very successful bachelorette weekend in Palm Springs! Top of our hike Friday morning I'm so grateful that I was able to make it out to celebrate my little brother's fiance. I'm also so honored I was included! It was great to not only get away for a little while, but also get to know her friends and sister better. They are so funny! I attempted to like bloody marys, but really I'm a mimosa girl. It was my first time in Palm Springs, and aside from the lengthy . . .
I just made a quick trip to Indianapolis and Louisville! My uncle had surgery in Indianapolis this past Monday (he is doing well), so my mom and aunt planned to drive over to spend some time with him. I decided to join them, with the added bonus of seeing my best friend, Laura! Once the Indianapolis portion was planned, I decided I should swing by Louisville on the way home too and see Brittany. Tuesday Tuesday afternoon I went straight to the hospital to see my uncle, then over to The Hot . . .
What an incredibly wonderful week in Hilton Head with my family. We came down here for Thanksgiving last year, and apparently it's becoming a tradition. Hopefully I'll be able to sneak away for a few days in the coming years, even though I won't have the whole week off. It's so rare that my whole family is together (my little brother and his fiancé live in Minneapolis), so we really value the dinners, movies, games, and laughs together! New games we played: Dixit & One Night . . .
This past weekend's conference in Seattle was incredible. It was fun, inspiring, engaging, and really impressive. It was my first national conference as my class's rep for the American Association of Medical Colleges, and now I can't wait to go each year. Over 200 representatives from colleges all over the country met to discuss the leading issues in medical education and share ideas about each school's best practices. We had daily meetings as regions (SLU is part of the central region) . . .
