It was a very low key Christmas in the Brady house this year. My younger brother spends Christmas with his fiancé, and my older brother spent most of Christmas day with his girlfriend, so there were just a few of us at the house. That’s okay though – time spent with family and friends is always a treat!
I taught my regular 5:30pm yoga class and then quickly changed to meet all my high school friends for an engagement party. I don’t see them enough, so it was so fun to catch up. We ended up at our favorite Irish pub, McGurk’s, afterward where the musicians were friends I grew up playing with! Just like old times.
Saturday morning I taught the 9am yoga class with a full Christmas playlist, then stayed to take the 90 minute class afterward. After lunch and a shower it was already time to get ready for 5pm mass.
The 5pm mass is the children’s Mass, and we only recently started going to it. We had always done the more solemn midnight mass before. The children’s mass always a few laughs – this year one little girl announced to the whole Church that she had over 100 legos! We see a lot of family friends each year too, so we stay and chat for a little while afterward.
After Mass we had dinner at my aunt’s house. Crab cakes, pork tenderloin, cheesy potatoes, green beans, ice cream, and cookies –mmm! We ended up watching Elf and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, too. My parents hadn’t seen Elf!!
Christmas morning I was up for some coffee and last minute present wrapping before brunch. We ate around 11am, facetimed with my little brother and his fiancé, and then casually opened gifts.
Christmas afternoon is always pretty chill at my house. We put on a movie and usually do a puzzle, but this year my mom got out some of her necklace making stuff. Look at the gorgeous tassel necklaces we made! She is so crafty.
I spent a few hours at the neighbor’s house – I always go to see the adorable grandkids. This year there was a bonus of a new labradoodle puppy as well.
Christmas dinner was just leftovers, and now we’ll probably watch a little more TV. I made a study schedule for the rest of the week so I might get started on that too.
I hope you had a wonderful weekend, no matter what you celebrate.
Merry Christmas from the Bradys!
