I had quite the full weekend of celebrations!
It started to ice pretty badly after my final on Friday, so despite braving it to the studio to teach class, no one showed up. I was slipping and sliding all over the roads and there were accidents everywhere, so I don’t blame anyone for staying home!
Instead I went over to my parents house where my little brother and his fiancé had just arrived from Minneapolis. We had Imo’s pizza for dinner and then went down to the Anheuser Busch Brewery to see Christmas lights and ice skates. Ironically, ice skating was closed due to the…ice… so we just hung out and talked until I went home for the evening!
Saturday morning I took a 9am yoga class, taught my 10:30 yoga class at a local clinic, and then met my brother’s fiancé to get our nails done.
//great message from Saturday morning’s yoga class//
After nails I met a friend from class at Deer Creek Cafe to chat about boards study plans. I got lunch while there – this gorgeous Thai Chicken Salad.
Saturday night was the engagement party! Even though they’ve been engaged for almost a year, this was the first chance that worked for some family friends to throw them a party. It was so fun to see neighbors and friends, plus we got our first SNOW during the party!
On Sunday we had a really nice brunch for two reasons – first, my mom’s birthday! We had a great spread of eggs, bacon, hash browns, pancakes, english muffins, fresh fruit and mimosas. She blew out her candle in a pancake.
Then part two of the celebration was sibling Christmas! Since my little brother and his fiancé spend Christmas with her family (Thanksgiving with us), we decided to do our sibling gift exchange this weekend while they were in town.
Post present opening we all piled in the car to go see La La Land, which was really really cute but kind of sad! I’d definitely recommend it – love Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone!
I am just back from teaching the Sunday night yoga class and it feels so good to just rest on the couch for a little while. I’m traveling this weekend to see some friends, but also plan on getting some boards studying in during the day.
I hope you all have a fun (maybe short?) week ahead and exciting holiday plans to look forward to. Talk soon!
