Seeing Brittany just feels like home.
Brittany always asks me when I’m “coming home” to Louisville. 😉 I only lived there for a year!! But the sentiment is real — it was a wonderful place to live and Brittany and her family made it feel like a real home to me.
We met over coffee one morning – a normal “blogger meet up” – and just clicked. Look how little Baby D was back then!!! And then when I broke up with my boyfriend and felt completely lost and alone in “his” city, she and her husband literally took me in. They weren’t even in a house – they were in the middle of moving and staying in a rental apartment – but she still had me over every night, fed me, and let me cry. I needed that support during those first rough weeks and I don’t know what I would have done without them.
(way back when getting Indian food in Louisville)
They were the last people I went to see before I left the city almost a year ago. Baby D was barely talking then. Little princess D2 was still in mama’s belly making her very very sick. I stayed with them for a weekend this past fall, and then I finally got to see them again for a few days when they were in town for a conference!!
OF course I got no pictures with Brittany, only her kids. Baby D is now a talking machine -a very polite one, too, despite the inevitible 2 year old temper tantrums. Here he is putting a banana on my head. Why not?
And this little princess is just SO chill. Unless she wants to eat, of course! I actually have a hickey on my shoulder from when she tried to eat FROM ME. It was kind of adorable, though she was pretty upset when nothing came out. Brittany got back from her errand soon after, thankfully. Here we are in the middle of a game of Peek-a-boo:)
It was so dang good to see them. I need to find a time to get back to Louisville this summer before school starts again. It DOES feels like home – a second home at least:)
In other news, Brittany and I had got some questionable tasting “nitro coffee” from Sump. I’ve loved Nitro Coffee in the past, but this just didn’t taste right. But the upside – Sump was AMAZING and refunded the money! Now THAT is customer service. I will be back!
And now for something completely different (name that movie): I SWAM last night! Not far. Not well. But I swam! Swimming is such amazing exercise and I really hope to get to the pool more to try an get more comfortable with it. SLU has great facilities so I should use them!!
Alright – back to work! Reading, a meeting, and more reading today. Another weekend of Yoga Teacher Training starts tomorrow!!
