Five Things Friday 2.15.12

This was such an eventful week! Almost every day was “something”, from Mardi Gras, to Ash Wednesday, to Valentine’s Day. Makes the days go by faster, right?

I’m in good ole Texas, but made sure to prep my five things before my weekend trip began.

Five Things I Ate:

This snack: Greek yogurt with strawberries and peanut flour sauce (just 1 TBSP peanut flour mixed with water.) I had the same thing but with a scoop of Sunbutter the day before. So good and so pretty!

This lunch. Twice.

TJ’s sushi! I love it, but I will now admit that I do love Whole Food’s sushi more. TJ’s isn’t bad, it’s just different.

Hot Chocolate. That counts as eating right? I hadn’t had any in months! I wasn’t hungry for a snack after my massive Fozzie’s sandwich, but it was my last chance to have chocolate before Lent so I went with the drinkable version.

Tofu. I hadn’t had tofu in a hot minute. Once I started eating meat again (over a year ago!) tofu kind of fell out of the rotation. Well guess what, it’s GOOD. I love tofu! So I’m happy I remembered that and will start having it again every once in a while.

Five Workouts:

Sun: 10 Mile Run

Mon: 45 min elliptical + Best Body Bootcamp legs and shoulder workout

Tues: Spin class + hot yoga with Casey!

Wed: 4 mile run + Best Body Bootcamp circuits

Thurs/Fri: No clue since I’m traveling. Maybe rest, maybe gym, maybe some sort of fun activity? P and I both like to exercise, and usually get something in, but it’s not top priority when we’re spending precious time together.

Five Posts I Loved:

Blog Reading is Dangerous from fellow STL blogger Mom’s Little Running Buddy has this little nugget of wisdom:

“Part of being strong is knowing who you are and what’s right for you…the first step in…being able to enjoy {blog} reading is to remember that you are you. Then hopefully you can read, enjoy, feel happy and supportive.”

When is it Okay to Slow Down? from Lindsay’s List. Do I have a post from Lindsay in here each week? I think so. I guess she has a good blog. That’s a challenge Lindsay. Keep it up! ;)

Yes I Know from A Veteran Runnah. This post pretty accurately describes why I believe in bioindividuality (R) and being non-judgmental when it comes to other people’s food choices.

29 Things You May Have Forgotten About The 1999 Grammy Awards. I just cannot believe that I was alive (12) and supportive of all of this.

The 29 Worst Things About Being Your 20s. I don’t relate or agree with all of these, but many of them!

Five Things Making Me Happy:

The Bachelor. WAHOOOO Sean is all I can say!

It’s staying light out until 6-ish these days! Spring is a-coming.

Love. Love from my friends (so many happy texts!) my parents (a car wash and a Cardinal’s winter hat? Thank you!) and of course from P.

Southwest points. I sometimes complain about traveling so much (I love to see new places, but am not as big of a fan of the quick 2-day trips that leave me exhausted), but I am so so blessed and lucky to be able to do so right now. And my Southwest points have a lot everything to do with that.

Being more content and peaceful. Hard to explain, but this past week I’ve just felt much more at ease and comfortable with life and myself. A lot of it has to do with figuring out my emotional eating, starting to love and accept myself more, and being grateful for what I have.

Your Turn!

  • What’s making you happy this week?

  1. I love racking up points on southwest/air tran. It makes it easier to fly to places when I want to. Aka go home. It’s great that you and your boyfriend are active- I don’t know if I could date someone that wasn’t because it would mean we had very different priorities/interests. Exercise is part of my life, it’s what I enjoy doing, and I don’t see myself stopping that because of a guy that enters my life. I hope you have a great trip!

  2. Great job on the workouts! I’m a tofu fan too even though I’m not vegetarian. It’s really good when made correctly!

  3. Making me happy this week? FINALLY figuring out what I really want out of my life and feeling like things are actually RIGHT with this decision. The energy I have towards this adventure is just proving to me that I’m on the right track. :)

    • that is SO awesome to hear!! Since I was/am going through the same thing, I get so excited when other people figure it out!

  4. Thanks for the link love! It makes me feel so good when I can connect with people!

As for your workouts! Have fun on your 10 Miler! If you want to run an extra mile for me, so be it! :) Happy friday!

  5. I really like how you included feeling grateful and how that has helped you to to be more content and peaceful. I think so many people who are unhappy with their lives forget how important it is to be grateful for all we DO have – because when we stop and think about it, it’s a LOT! Even stopping for a minute each day and remembering one thing we are thankful for is huge.

  6. I haven’t watched The Bachelor yet, but I got spoiled so I know why you are cheering for Sean. Can I just say I think he might be a bit dense that it took him this long to figure that out.

  7. How did you get so many Southwest miles?!

My husband is not super active, though he still manages to outhike me almost every time and is fit enough to do any activity we want. I would have thought it would bother me, but it really doesn’t. I do my “me time” running or whatever, and we spend our time together doing whatever.

That yogurt looks yummy! Peanut flour? Never used it!

    Have a fun weekend!

  8. so happy you are feeling good lady! Safe travels! xoxo

  9. Your pictures are making me hungry!!

  10. i always have a Lindsay’s List post. i definitely look up to her and respect her advice and opinions.

  11. Southwest Points = major bonus! that makes me happy, because i travel a TON for work and gripe about it, but i should just focus on the awesome trips i can take in the future with those points!

  12. “being content and peaceful” — that’s huge, congrats!

hope you’re enjoying the time with P :)

  13. You’re really doing sushi wrong if you think TJs or Whole Foods “sushi” is good. I understand it’s convenient, but it’s far from good. Go to an actual sushi restaurant!

  14. Bachelor is making me happy too! And of course, I’m pretty happy that it’s Friday afternoon! Have a great weekend!

  15. i’m so thankful for you!! I wish you were coming to Blend!! Any chance??
