Hi and Happy Friday!
Did this week fly for anyone else? Maybe it’s because so much of its was errands and catching up on stuff post-Thanksgiving break. Also probably because we don’t have a test for a few weeks, so things were not too stressful on the school end for me. We put up Christmas decorations in our house and are getting in the holiday spirit!
This weekend I’m babysitting, taking my fav 90 minute yoga class, have a study date with a friend and have a boxing workout class with classmates. Hope you have a fun weekend planned, too!
I haven’t done a Friday Favorites in a while so we have a bunch to catch up on. Here we go!
I finally finished this book! I was given it by a friend during Yoga Teacher Training on the condition that I give it to someone else when I’m finished. I haven’t decided who I’ll give it to yet, but it was just as good as all of Brene Brown’s stuff. I am so pro-vulnerability, so obviously book is my jam. She just hits the nail on the head and seems to get into the deepest darkest corners of your mind. If you haven’t watched her Ted Talk, you must!
My fav supplement line has a new product — flavored drink mixes with an added dose of either vitamins, probiotics, or greens. The flavors are all great, and my roommate and I have been drinking them each day! I love that I drink more water while getting in a healthy boost. YUM!
If you’ve been doing any holiday shopping lately you HAVE to use Ebates! You go to their site, search for the store you are shopping from, then click through to make your purchase. The shopping is the same but you get cash back! JUST FOR SHOPPING. Why not??
Playing with Yoga Poses
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed me posting a lot more yoga pictures lately! I was feeling stagnant in my practice (same old, same old) so I decided to start doing more yoga on my own. I couldn’t really get into the yoga zone at home, so I started using the “mind body” room at our school gym for a personal practice. I push myself farther, practice poses I’m not great at, and try a bunch of new things. I’m actually making a lot of progress – and having lots of fun!
(SO close to splits!!)
Gilmore Girls – A Year In The Life
Did you watch it!? I have so many feelings. I didn’t watch the regular show while it was on, but caught up via Netflix a few years ago. I thought the new version was awesome, kind of bizarre, and insanely frustrating. Why do I love Logan even though he’s a total jerk? Why is Rory being an idiot? Will there be more!? Discuss.
Cooler weather = casseroles and crock pot. This recipe from PaleOMG (fun fact – my roommate’s sister went to college with her!) has been a fav for a few years and has totally hit the spot this week. I used Italian seasoned ground turkey in it instead of Italian sausage this time and still just as good!
I’ve gotten to try some different medical apparel companies, and Wear FIGS is extra special because of their “Threads for Threads” program. For each pair of scrubs purchased they donate a pair to providers in need across the world. I tried some of their Lifewear products, great for underneath scrubs or to and from the hospital, and it is all SO COMFY. I have worn the black long sleeved t-shirt and fleece every day at some point…
I know I’ll wear the compression under scrub long sleeve a bunch too, especially when I’m actually in clinicals. Definitely a fan!
My mascara ran out, so I googled, “best drugstore mascara.” My eyelashes have been kind of thin lately so I decided to try this two part system. It’s GREAT! The first step coats and extends the lashes, and then the regular mascara coats them. I have only used it for a few days but really like it so far!
I’ve posted about this briefly in the past, but Kylie nailed it. Tons of “healthy living” bloggers are NOT promoting healthy lifestyles. I was certainly guilty of it in the past and I am so, so sorry for that. Don’t ever feel like you have to eat the way someone else does. You need to listen to YOUR body and eat in a way that makes you feel good – mind, body and soul. No two people are a like, and so no two versions of “health” will be alike. Eat enough. No foods are “bad.” And remember, skinny does NOT equal healthy.
This Quote on Happiness…
Alright – that’s it for today. Have a great weekend, everyone!
