This week flew by with the busyness of starting classes again. It’s been a bit overwhelming, but exciting at the same time. Crazy to think how different my life felt just a week ago!
Here are this week’s Friday Favorites!
Moving in with my roommates means we have multiple coffee making options now. Between the three of us we have a Nespresso machine, a Keurig, and a regular coffee maker. In effort to save money I bought a huge bag of coffee from Sams Club and have been making regular drip coffee in the morning. It’s nice to have a big mug of coffee again instead of my little Nespressos! I think I’ll save those for special occasions.
I had a roommate last year, but we weren’t great friends and were different years in school, so often it felt like I lived alone. Living in this new house with two friends has been so much fun. Not only because of the dogs (which you all know that I’m in love with by now) but because I always have someone to hang out with and talk to! We have enough space that we aren’t in each other’s hair all the time, and we’ve been good about getting studying done, but it’s really nice to have friends around.
On my salads, in my eggs, melted into pasta…pretty much on anything. It’s so good! I tend to buy feta a lot, but I’m totally on a goat cheese kick right now.
I inadvertently took a pretty big cardio break recently, focusing more on just strength and yoga. Those are great things, but I lost a lot of my endurance! I’ve been spinning (mostly this 30 min workout) and running more (though now the running will be switched to the elliptical due to my bad knee) and it feels good to push myself!
Obviously this is the biggest one for the week. Med students are pretty good at complaining about how hard it is and how busy they are, but we all LOVE it. We get to learn the coolest stuff. We have the most amazing experiences. When I’m overwhelmed with the worked I have to do, I remind myself that this is work I want to do.
And having to wear real clothes for clinical work is fun too.
Tonight I’m sitting in on a suicide support group as part of our Death and Dying course, which should be very sad but really educational. Then it’s more cardiology studying – first test is Monday!
Hope you all have a fun weekend planned!
