I just got back from a long weekend in Indianapolis with my best friend, Laura.
If you’re a new reader – Laura is my best friend from college. She got her graduate degree here in St. Louis and then moved in Indianapolis for work. We don’t get to see each other too often these days, so it was so great to be able to spend some extended time with her.
Friday night we went to Glowga at her yoga studio, The Hot Room. Laura teaches Bikram there, helps manage the studio, and runs a health coaching business. It was SO fun and the studio in downtown Indy is gorgeous! It’s in the original fire house — how fun that now they do HOT yoga in the space. They teach Bikram, Baptiste power vinyasa (the style I teach), and hot pilates.
Saturday we drove up to Notre Dame for the football game! I got to spend time with her family, see some friends from college, and even see my own parents up there. Even better…we actually WON! Go Irish!!!
Sunday was a big costume birthday party for Laura’s niece and nephew. She told me she was going as the Mad Hatter so I decided to coordinate and be the Queen of Hearts. It was a pretty make-shift costume, but it worked! Laura’s was phenomenal, and most of it is actually from J.Crew!
It was so fun to see all the kids in their costumes, and I think they all had a great time! I got to see lots of Laura’s extended family and it was great to catch up.
We hung out with another good friend on Sunday night, and then Monday I got to take one of Laura’s Bikram classes! She is a great teacher, but my body is definitely not used to Bikram yoga anymore.
Monday afternoon then I made the drive back home in time to teach my own yoga class at school, exhausted by happy after a much needed girls weekend. It was so, so wonderful to take a total break from med school life for a few days. I certainly have a lot to catch up on and study this week, but I needed the time away. It refreshed my mind set and renewed my drive to crack down and get to work these next few months.
Hope you all had a great weekend as well!
