Hey guys!
Did you watch the Golden Globes last night? I did, but after a jam-packed day! I didn’t sleep well and I think it’s because I’m getting into the book Gone Girl and it’s starting to really freak me out! I’ll do a review when I’m finished. (I still owe you one for Wild.)
Anyway, I had another bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. I’ve gotten asked how I make this, and I can’t explain it well because I don’t measure anything! I hold the pot under the faucet to fill it with some water, then I put in a scoop of quick oats, 1 TBSP flax (that I measure) and then when it’s getting thick I add a pour of egg whites. I stir occasionally and it comes out differently each time, but always delicious topped with crunchy almond butter!

It was almost too much to digest before the gym since I had to get there less than an hour later, but lucky I didn’t have a super vigorous workout ahead. I just needed to get in the last strength work out of Best Body Bootcamp week 1. I am behind since I started two days late, and this one was my favorite so far!

I took a quick shower at the gym before heading to my Girls on the Run coach’s training! There were WAY more people than I expected – probably at least 100 and it was only HALF of the NEW coaches. St. Louis has the 3rd largest group in the country!!
Anyway I am SO SO excited for it. We got to go through a few of the lessons and learned all about the season’s events and marketing efforts. Even better? My friend (and reader) Becca is going to be my assistant coach!! It starts in February and I’ll keep you all updated on how it’s going. The more I learn, the more I truly believe in this program.

SO continuing my non-stop day, I immediately grabbed Subway (I’d had some snacks at training but was starving) and took it into the movie theatre where my family was waiting with my ticket. We saw The Hobbit which was good, but LONG! I cannot believe that is only 1/3 of the book – they are making two more! I never read them but know people love them and I can see why. I think I would have appreciated it more if I had read them.
The movie didn’t get out until around 8 so I zoomed home to start watching the Golden Globes on DVR (while eating bunches of tostitos – my fav salty snack). They were great – I thought Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were hilarious but not over the top. And I didn’t pay super close attention to the red carpet, but here are a few dresses that stood out to me:
Leah Michele. Great shape. Sparkly without being crazy. She looks awesome.

Jessica Alba. As usual, right? The color was gorgeous on her and different from the others

Zooey Deschanel. Simple but classic. Love her.

PHEW. That’s plenty of rambling for me. Ok – another week ahead and I have some projects I want to work hard on. Hope you had a great weekend!
- Have you ever been part of Girls on the Run?
- Have you seen The Hobbit?
- What’d you think of the Golden Globes and the dresses?

Gone Girl is SO SO good! You’ll love it! And good for you for joining GOTR. I still would love to get involved with that program myself.
I did see some of the GG last night and was loving the red! So many red dresses but I think my favorite was Jennifer Lawrence.
How funny! I just read Gone Girl and am reading Wild right now! We have good taste!
Jessica Alba’s dress was one of my favorites too. In my opinion, Lea Michelle has really transformed into a red-carpet ‘do’ over the course of her stint on Glee. I also loved J.Lo and Kerry Washington’s dresses!
That is so so wonderful you are getting involved with GOTR!
I have always wanted to be a coach but got injured as soon as I moved to a city with it.
I can’t wait to to read about your experience!
I love GOTR… I did both of their 5k’s in St. Louis this past year and they were my favorite races (aside from Cardinals Care). I was interested in coaching this year but I’m having IT band surgery on Thursday and wasn’t sure I’d be in any condition for it this spring… maybe in the fall.
I did see ‘The Hobit” but we went to that new “dine-in” AMC in on Olive that had the recliners for seats and it was pretty much the greatest decision ever. So comfortable!
I was addicted to “Gone Girl.” I downloaded the audiobook for my Ipod and used it for my long runs training for the Rock’n'Roll Stl half marathon. Made those runs fly by!
I wonder if I’d like audio books for long runs? I can never do them in the car!!
and didn’t know Olive was dine-in now! I think des peres might be too??
I think it helps if the book is a real page turner like Gone Girl was for me. I found myself running longer just to hear the next part, lol.
I think it’s just the AMC past Olive/270 that’s the dine in, but I could be wrong. It’s a little pricey but worth it if you’re going to see a longer movie. Plus, they sent out coupons for free appetizers, entrees and tickets a while ago which kind of made up for the cost.
Nice!! Should have done it for hobbit
I don’t have cable, so I just look at the Golden Globe dresses online… The dresses are the best part! I thought Claire Danes looked gorgeous… Especially considering she just popped out a kid, haha!
um, YEAH right? The dress was so simple but looked amazing on her!
I want to be a apart of Girls on The run! I loved Jessica Alba, Zooey Deschanel and Kristen Wiggs dresses!
why am I FEARING gone girl will be depressing?!
I do not need depressing…I need me levity
I’m not finished but it’s kind of…creepy…and cool…and totally disturbing in an addictive way!
I want to coach GOTR so badly! It’s how I got my start in running and I would love to be able to shape the lives of young girls through a sport I’m passionate about. I’m so excited for you- that’s awesome
That’s SO COOl that it’s how you got started running. You should totally look into at least assistant coaching or being a running buddy – great options if you can’t commit 100%!
I am also in love with Jessica Alba’s dress…she is just stunning!
I loooved Gone Girl. Yeah, it’s a bit weird though. But if this one freaks you out, I’d warn you against reading her next book, Sharp Objects – especially if you read before bed.
Love Zooey Deschanel
I’m reading Fifty Shades of Grey! Guilty pleasures
LOVE Lea Michele and Jessica Alba’s looks! Beautiful dresses. Girls on the Run will be SO fun. I can’t wait to hear more, love!
You will absolutely love Gone Girl! I couldn’t put it down after the first few chapters! Also so creepy that it’s set in Missouri.
In other news, yay for GOTR!! So excited to coach with you girl!
We have the same book taste! I just finished Gone Girl, and now I’m starting Wild!
I read ‘Gone Girl’ and really enjoyed it — now I am reading ‘Dark Places’ which is by the same author but it is even creepier!! It is taking me so long to finish because I legitimately get freaked out. And I completely agree — Jessica Alba looked flawless! I felt Kate Hudson did, too.
ooh she has another one..I might have to read it!
And Gillian Flynn also wrote “Sharp Objects” – also super creepy/full of twists! I loved it too.
I always forget about flaxseed but love it whenever I add it to oats or yogurt. I watched part of the Golden Globes and also loved Jessica Alba’s dress, and I really liked Jennifer Garners. Never seen the Hobbit but I’m not into that genre of movies at all so I probably won’t. I still haven’t seen Lord of the Rings!
I always love watching awards ceremonies. Celebrities fascinate me.
I though Leah Michele’s dress was pretty, but she looked too orange for my liking. It’s January. Why are you so tan?
I thought Gone Girl was slow for the first 100 pages, then I got really into it! I was a little disappointed with the ending though. I hope it doesn’t freak you out too much!

I’m was also reading Gone Girl before bed and I got really freaked out! I had to google spoilers just to be less scared. (It didn’t work. I still don’t know the ending and only know enough to know that things are going to get much creepier!) I don’t do well with psychological thrillers.
How awesome that you’re going to be a GOTR coach!! I wish I could do that, but I don’t get out of work early enough to make that happen. You’re so lucky and the girls are so lucky to have so many volunteers.
GOTR sounds like it’s going to be so much fun! I would love to volunteer for something like that in the future. I’m so sad I missed the GG last night. Catching the highlights online tonight!
I’ve been a GOTR running buddy and coached a team a few years ago and loved it. The program is outstanding, and I think I got out of it just as much as the participants did. It’s challenging to be a coach with my work schedule as it is, but I keep thinking that I want to find a way to stay involved with them without coaching.
