This Thursday is the 5th Annual Missouri Eating Disorder Advocacy Day.
This event was rescheduled because of snow last month (ironic), but it’s s upposed to be clear by Thursday.
I have been in contact with the organizer, and here’s what she said we’d be doing:
- Meet at 10am in the First Floor Rotunda to begin Lobby training. Pick up a training packet, learn the details, what we’ll be doing, talking points etc.
- Go in GROUPS to your respective legislator’s office to discuss the importance of coverage for Eating Disorders.
My mom unfortunately can’t go on the rescheduled date, but I’d still like to attend. I think it’d be a great experience to join together with others, talk to law makers, and work towards change. Eating Disorder treatment is underfunded by many insurance companies – often you can only receive a few weeks of treatment before the money runs out – and it’s something I believe really needs to change.
I’m planning on driving to Jeff City in the morning, but will have to leave a little bit early (around 1pm) to make it to the airport in time to pick up P. (!!)
Anyone local interested and able to join me? (Hope, I’m looking at you!)
- Have you ever lobbied for a cause?
