The most perfect wedding weekend is winding down! My little brother married a wonderful girl and I now officially have a sister, even though it’s felt that way for a while since they dated for over 7 years. I’m not going going to share many pictures of the bride and groom so they can wait for the official photos, but I have a few from other parts of the weekend.
The weekend started out with a rehearsal and dinner at The Missouri Botanical Gardens. My harp teacher played during cocktail hour and then we moved inside for an absolutely delicious meal of beef short ribs and tiramisu. I wore this dress.
Kevin and Maureen invited everyone to their favorite Irish pub, McGurk’s, after the rehearsal dinner and so many people showed up. I was so impressed! Basically everyone that had just gotten in town came to hang out. It was great!
The next morning I was up early to start getting my hair and make up done with the rest of the bridesmaids. I was really happy with how it turned out! Also obsessed with the fake eyelashes.
The PJs were a gift from the bride and they are SO comfortable! She is one of eight kids, three of which are sisters, so the bridal party was pretty big. All the girls are so nice and I’m so glad I got to know them better.
Once we were all ready it was time for the ceremony! We saw Maureen in her dress for the first time, got our absolutely stunning bouquets (that doubled as center pieces later) and got on the shuttle to St. Cecilia’s.
The Mass was beautiful – I didn’t trip walking down the aisle and only cried a little bit. And then it was time for champagne, sandwiches, and pictures before the rain came! We totally lucked out with weather – it started POURING right after we finished photos!
Cocktail hour was in a little side lobby of the hotel. I spent some time with my sweet little cousins from California. It was their first wedding and they are at the perfect age to think Maureen was an absolute princess. They were adorable with her and kept saying how beautiful she was! So cute.
Dinner was in the Grand Hall of Union Station, a stunningly gorgeous old train station that is now a hotel and event space. Pretty perfect since my brother was obsessed with trains growing up!
We had a delicious meal, speeches, first dances, and then didn’t leave the dance floor until midnight! It was a total blast!
The Rest of the Weekend
The next day was groggy wake ups, hotel breakfast with family, and then taking the little cousins to The City Museum so they could run around. It’s really not a museum – more a huge jungle gym/cave system/crazy place and I got to follow them around so they wouldn’t get lost. Definitely didn’t know if I’d fit through all the little holes they were climbing through!
The last event of the weekend was rooftop tickets to the Cardinals game on Memorial Day. About 8 of us went and it was a great way to relax and spend time together before the bride and groom headed out.
It was the best weekend with so many family and friends. I’m so happy for my little brother and new sister. Congratulations, Kev and Maureen!
