No running was happening for me yesterday.
I swear each day that I get older, the longer it takes me to recover from big weekends. Despite extra sleep, coconut water, and advil, my body was not feeling too hot Monday! I planned to get in a workout after work, but instead headed to the couch with a bag of chips.
However last Thursday BEFORE I left for LB’s wedding weekend, I got in a great new run! I’m loving short (relative) 30 minute interval and sprint runs lately — distance steady state running just isn’t my thing these days. And after being pushed hard at Orange Theory, I thought I’d try to recreate a similar style run for myself.
Here’s the deal — your “push” pace should be one that wears you out. You should want to slow down after the minute is over, but that’s the point. You DON’T! You work harder than you thought you could, and make it through one more minute of sprinting before you get to walk for recovery.
This WORE ME OUT. Holy cow, I wanted more than 1 minute of walking! But It felt great and I hope to do it more often as a baseline-type workout. I hope that it starts to feel a little easier each time!
And here are a few more workouts I’ve updated on my Workout Page.
