New Things {Chobani, Barre, Greatist}

I keep rereading this morning’s Austin recap, wishing I were back there. In the warmth. With P.

Boooo.

I got home around 11pm last night, unpacked a little and went straight to bed. This morning I was up for a Girls On The Run meeting. Season starts this week and yes, I will do a post on coaching!

Also, those of you in the DC area, please send me an email (fittingitallin (at) gmail (dot) com) so I can start planning something while I’m up there this weekend! I’m not sure when/where yet, but send me some suggestions!

I have tried THREE new things today (and it’s only 1:30pm!)

1. My Greatist T-shirt. I am a greatist.com ambassador (meaning I get to share the fun articles they write and promote living a happy healthy lifestyle by hashtagging #imagreatist way too much) and they sent me a cute t-shirt! I love their logo.

Greatist Ambassador

Thanks Greatist!

2. BANANA CHOBANI!! You all probably know that Chobani is the best company ever and showers bloggers with gifts of yogurt, and while I was gone they stocked me up on their new banana and pear flavors.

chobani greek yogurt

I’m usually a plain Greek  yogurt girl since the flavors have a pretty high sugar content (says the girl that just had three handfuls of butterscotch chips and a bowl of vanilla ice cream after lunch) BUT Chobani’s flavors are awesome and I love them as a special treat sometimes!

This morning I had a banana yogurt topped with strawberries and almond butter. It was awesome. It was sweet and tasted like banana….which can’t ever really be bad. Pear is next!

3. Barre class! Casey and I have 6 free classes to use at Yoga Six since we signed up last week, and she asked me to join her for our first barre class today. Casey danced through college and was so good at it, of course. I tried my best to get back to my dancer routes and pointed toes.

barre class

It was so fun! The hour passed by so quickly and the instructor (same one that told me about Yoga Six at my private yoga class the other week!) played great mash-up music. I didn’t shake quite as much as I had expected too, but those little movements get you! I think I’ll be sore!

Casey and I are already planning when to use the rest of our free classes. I think a vinyasa flow on Wednesday night.

Alright…work work work! Tons of catch up + GOTR prep to do!

  • Favorite yogurt flavor?
  • Have you ever tried barre or bar method?

Comments

  1. I cannot wait to try the banana Chobani. We do not have Chobani here but I am in the States in a couple weeks and cannot wait to eat it daily. Lol. I love orange yogurt.
I have never tried a Barre class either.

  2. So glad you liked your first barre class! I’m obsessed and am in the middle of a 20 classes in 30 days challenge at my local Pure Barre. I’m usually shaking like a leaf by the end of class! As they say, embrace the shake ;)

  3. I am slightly obsessed with Chobani yogurts….I’m currently eating the mango flavor as we speak. So good. And I love barre classes, so different and such a fun workout.

  4. I just tried the banana chobani this morning and it was amazing!!

  5. Right now i think my favorite yogurt flavor is the Raspberry Oikos Greek…Had it today for a snack it was very good!!!!

I used to dance when i was yonger other than that, i haven’t but it seems interesting. I’d like to try it!

  6. The bar method looks awesome, but I am not sure where they have it in Indy. I’ll have to look for it! Favorite yogurt?? I am a plain girl too (because of the sugar!) but I loved the banana chobani :)

  7. I’m not a huge fruit-in-the-bottom of yogurt fan, but I am ALL over that banana Chobani. I also really like their plain – just because you get to add other fun stuff to it. I’m hoping to get to a barre class sooner rather than later – they are finally popping up around Cleveland!

  8. I think I’ll apply to be a Greatist ambassador, too :)

  9. I LOVE the new Chobani flavors, especially since the banana isn’t FAKE banana – it’s REAL, so it tastes good! :)

  10. Chobani banana, cherry and pineapple are my favorites. It took me awhile to get used to the texture of Greek yogurt, but once I saw the amount of protein it has I was hooked.

  11. really excited that you’re coming to the DC area! I’ll shoot you an email soon :)
I’ve been to a barre class once and I really liked it! It didn’t feel like my usual intense workout but I definitely felt like I got a lot of toning in which is unusual for me.

  12. Pure Barre is something I’m really interested in, so I loved this post! I love the fact that it’s like a ballet workout with toning and pilate moves. Can’t wait to go to a class myself!

  13. I usually stick to plain Greek yogurt too, but I make an exception on occasion for CHO. I recently made a batch of banana-chocolate chip frozen yogurt using the banana Chobani–delish!

  14. I love the new Chobani pear. And the raspberry/chocolate bites! And, I’m in D.C. ….

  15. I don’t really have a favorite yogurt flavor but sometimes I like to put a spoonful of jam or honey in my plain greek yogury!

  16. I agree on the sugar content! Sometimes I look at the sugar & carbs and have to put it back. I did buy some chobani bites since they are smaller servings but was not a fan of the coffee chocolate flavor. Maybe because I’m more of a vanilla girl :)

  17. i actually really like many of the chobani flavors, but i buy pineapple 99% of the time. it’s just my absolute favorite and i always stir in some nut butter! i did see the pear and banana and tried them both. i liked the pear better than the banana, but neither was good enough to steal me from pineapple. :)

  18. I’m a barre instructor so I’m glad you took a class! The point of class is *always* to get to the “shake zone” that’s where your muscles are fatiguing….once there you really have to push through the shake (ie don’t come out of the position) and that’s where all the change is going to happen. If you’re not shaking there is always a way to get a little bit deeper into the exercise and of course form is pivotal to get to that point! I definitely suggest continuing to go. Before I started going to barre regularly and then becoming an instructor I had lost all my flexibility due to running, my hips and hamstrings were a disaster. Now I take about 5 classes a week and teach 6…my average mile is about a minute faster and I can do a full split now!

  1. [...] New Chobani flavors. I loved the pear even more than the banana, because it was just slightly sweet. Hard to beat pineapple though! I still want to try the new Flips…that chocolate is screaming my name after Lent. [...]
