Coming off a post on relationships...let's talk about an amazing date night in NYC! My boyfriend told me a little before my birthday, on the phone when we were both frustrated that plans to see each other had gotten cancelled, that he wanted to take me to a broadway show for my birthday. He had wanted to wait and tell me in person, but decided over the phone would have to do. We both needed the pick me up since we were kinda down about not being together. He had to tell me because he . . .
Today I'm sharing one reason I used to suck at relationships. I'm sure there are many, but there is one big one that I realized recently. I think this is on my mind due to the recent reunion weekend with my college girls, who have been privileged (ha) to witness the more questionable choices in men and terrible heartbreaks I've gone through. We reminisced (and I cringed!) a lot. Gratefully I'm now experiencing it from a, "Holy cow, I can't believe I put up with that much!" perspective, . . .
When we first graduated back in 2010, we ended up seeing each other fairly regularly at football games. Then people got busier, we got older, and and suddenly it felt like forever since I'd spent time with my best friends! We had our five year reunion, but also decided to start doing weekend trips at least every two years. Our first one was in Napa (here are the blog posts: Day one, Day two) and this year we took advantage of my parents' new place in Hilton Head. 7 of the 9 of us were able to . . .
I've got two weeks work to catch you up on today! I'm on a flight right now - off to Hilton Head for a long weekend reunion with my best girlfriends from college. My original plane had some mechanical issues and I ended up having to rebook, so the day's plans are slightly off and I'm missing spending the day in Savannah! Instead of making the day a total waste, I decided to buy the airline internet and get some work done. Here is my weekly recap! Outfits Just one this week! And won't be . . .
I've been trying to do live Instagram stories more often to chat with y'all, and the last one gave me some really good post ideas! I love "talking" with you guys, hearing more about what you're doing and why you follow me, and answering any questions you have. Someone asked me how I stay motivated, which is a pretty broad question, but one I'll attempt to answer here. I think the question was asked because medical school is known to be pretty demanding. Especially this year, my third . . .
Hey strangers! Between my internal medicine shelf exam last week and then a fun weekend away, I haven't checked in here in a while. The internal medicine exam was really hard, mostly because I didn't have as much time as I had wished. Each question required a lot of critical thinking, and I am not quick enough yet I guess! I gratefully was able to put it out of my head right away since I left almost immediately with my family to head to Notre Dame! Notre Dame We ran into the worst . . .
Hi from Philly! I flew in with my parents last night (which was so weird - hadn't travelled with my parents since high school!) and my brothers and sister-in-law had arrived earlier in the day. It's the first time we're all together since my little brother's wedding in May! I can't wait to see one of my oldest and best friends get married, and of course to dance the night away with other friends I haven't seen in forever. Hope you all have a fun weekend planned - maybe some good Fall . . .
First, y'all rock. Thanks for your comments on yesterday's post! I will try to share more "real thought-y" type posts like that! I'm feeling totally uninspired by fall fashion. Not that there isn't cute stuff out there, but so much of it is super trendy and will go out of style soon, or is completely impractical for my hospital-based lifestyle. I've been crushing hard on GAP lately, though!! Sometimes their pieces are a little too simple, even for me, but this year I'm really feeing it. PS - . . .
Forgive me while I ramble for a bit... What is it about the number 30? Every other year my birthday has been exciting, but suddenly I feel like I'm supposed to dread this one. I think turning 30 is an even bigger deal for me because I'm surrounded by younger classmates. And even though I attempt to combat it, I've definitely felt some of the society pressures leading up to my big 3-0. On a practical level, I feel like turning 30 means my clock is ticking. I'd love to have a family some . . .
Happy weekend, friends! If you've been following along with my Insta-stories, you know that I am so happy that I have Saturday off! 3rd year is strange because they tell us we are allowed up to 3 days off for illness, etc, in each rotation, but usually they make you makeup any days you miss. So basically no days off. I have a friend's wedding next weekend (that I'm playing my harp at, which is so fun!) which means I'd be missing a weekend day of work. I was expected to have to work 13 days . . .
