This time of year is hard for people trying to gain weight. Really, any time is in today’s society. But especially at the start of a new year when the focus is on weight loss and health tips and gym memberships, doing the opposite is a huge struggle.
I know that when I was recovering from my eating disorder, both the full Anorexia Nervosa and the later recovery from Amenorrhea, I had some really bad moments. Sometimes it was just a few hours, sometimes it was full days of questioning and frustration and fear. Having some go-to things to read, listen to, or think about during those times was really key for my success. I’d also recommend having some close friends that understand whats going on and are willing to chat or text back some encouraging words.
So here is a list for anyone having a bad day or bad moment during recovery. I hope these things help you keep going, know you are beautiful, and remember that true health is way more important than any societal ideal.
The Real Life RD – Robyn is the queen of healthy body image, food freedom, and eating MORE. She was my best friend and guide during my weight gain, and I can’t recommend her services or her blog enough. She’s the sweetest!
Jamie Mendell – Jamie first introduced me to the world of Intuitive Eating with her 21 Day Intuitive Eating challenge. She now does mostly life coaching, but the Intuitive Eating course is still available!
And of course I hope that my Recovery page is helpful, too!
You can do this and you’re worth it!
