This first week back at school has been so fun! Breaks are almost sad because everyone is gone — I love my friends and classmates and have so much fun with them, even if means being in classes and studying a lot too:) I’m glad everyone is back!
Wednesday night I tried a new restaurant – Lulu’s Local Eatery. It’s all vegan which brings me back to my vegetarian days when I would have been all over this place. Even though I eat everything now, I still love trying creative foods and think vegan food can be so delicious. This place did not disappoint! I got an awesome sweet potato falafel pita, and also had some of the buffalo cauliflower bites which were so freaking good. I’d love to go back and try more of the menu!
Post dinner, drinks with the crew at Urban Chestnut Brewing Co. A friend suggested it because you can bring your dog (lots of my friends have dogs which is amazing) and we caught up on life over some delicious craft beers. First week of school = allows us to actually have some fun on week nights before all the tests set in.
Thursday I got a sweet surprise from Lauren — remember her from my Dallas days?? A belated birthday + Christmas gift that was just the best thing ever. An adorable Target workout top, nail polish, chocolate, lip gloss, fuzzy socks and lavender spray. SPOILED. She said the theme was “treat yo self.” <3
And then Thursday night was the big Title Boxing Club event that I planned! The Wellness Learning Community tries to bring fun fitness and health events to students, and since I’m from St. Louis I know more of the different studios and clubs around the city. I went to a Title Boxing Club charity class with YogaBuzz a few weeks ago, and that night I talked to the owner about setting up a class for the medical school.
Luckily they were totally open to the idea. We students got a discounted class rate, and Title Boxing got a packed house of 53 new faces in their gym. Win win!
We had an awesome mix of first and second years sign up. Everyone got there early to get our hands wrapped up (we got to keep the wraps!) and then felt really hard core…
And then we died. These classes are HARD, and the coaches definitely didn’t take it slow on us newbies! The warm up itself feels like a tough workout! So many squats and abs and punching and jumping jacks. So much sweat!
Luckily everyone had a blast and wasn’t too mad at me for bring them to get their butts’ kicked:) Here are our group photos afterwards – normal and then flexing like idiots.
So far we’ve now done a Metro Power Yoga class and Title Boxing, and hopefully we’ll try even more workouts in the coming months.
Later that night a bunch of friends surprised my friend Vince for his birthday at midnight! We waited in the rain and then snuck up the back stairs of his apartment with the help of his roommate to bring him cupcakes and beer and lovely birthday singing. It was so much fun – plus we all devoured the cupcakes. I just love having amazing friends that do stuff like this.
Lots of people are going out to celebrate the birthdays again tonight, but I think this old lady is going to stay in and get work done. I’ve had too much fun this week and have lots of work to do before my Pharmacology quiz on Monday.
Feeling so grateful for a fun week with wonderful people. Hope you’ve had some fun lately too! Any fun stories?
