So Friday morning I woke up later than expected and only had time to scarf down this quick banana and almond butter before I had to take my mom to get her car. (It was being serviced).

The banana and AB was just the amount of food I needed to bang out a great spin class. Lots of tabata today which is always a killer. I showered quickly at the gym and then booked it over to a meeting with the doctor I’m a research assistant for. We’re still in the beginning phases, but I’m helping here write an IRB (= institutional Review Board. You must submit a proposal to get approved before you can do studies) for a study on eating disorders. I’m pretty sure I can’t say much more due to confidentiality, but it’s really interesting and I’m so excited to get this experience.
After the meeting I came home and had the same lunch I have had every day this week. It is delicious, nutritious, and keeps me full so I haven’t felt the need to change. TJ’s tri-layer hummus is so good.

I was getting some work done when I got a phone call that the movers were ready to deliver my things EARLY! When does that happen? So I dropped everything and headed over to my storage unit….

Think I have enough stuff?

Gosh. Most of that is furniture I’ll use again when I move, but I did bring some things home. It was stuff I forgot I even had. This move has made me realize how little I actually need. I REALLY need to just start donating things, but I always worry I’ll want it some day! I have loved not feeling cluttered these past few weeks, though, so that might be enough to convince me.
On the way home I stopped by the orthodontist where my mom and I were having our retainers cleaned. Three cheers for BOTH of us still wearing our retainers! And extra cheers for them not being so disgusting anymore!

Oh and know what else is fun? The new Operation Beautiful book came (I pre-ordered it). I love Caitlin’s project and both my mom and I are thinking of ways to use the book. Me in Girls on the Run and my mom (a pediatrician) perhaps at work!
SOO I completely forgot to grab a snack in the rush of meeting the movers, and by the time I got home I was STARVING. I made an early dinner of last night’s leftovers and scarfed it down.

I intended to have another real meal before bed, but snack mode won out. I had a chocolate fudge Think Thin bar and some baby carrots, but kept going back for more while watching the Lance Armstrong special. Ended up with a few bowls of Christmas chocolates, a few handles of nuts, and some chips. I think the combo of a teeny breakfast + not having a snack really did me in..so much for my goal of no night time snacking! I needed more food throughout the day, so I need to be better about planning.
Of course I had my Celestial Seasonings sleepy time tea before bed. It’s become a great nighttime ritual.
- Do you ever just get rid of STUFF or do you keep everything?
- Any moving horror stories? This one actually went pretty smoothly! (Aside from it being way more expensive than I thought)
;

Every once in a while I’ll get rid of a bunch of old stuff, because I just really don’t like clutter. But that doesn’t mean that I still don’t have a lot of things, haha.
I still have my retainers but I never knew when to stop wearing them. I got my braces off in 8th grade and wore my retainers until like last year sooo that’s a long time haha I don’t think it would fit my teeth anymore. Also, I love bagels so I’d probably eat one every day too. Right now, I eat the same wrap every day. If it’s not broken, why fix it?
you were probably only at 300-350 calories by dinner, i’d be starved too!
Haha nooo it was more than that but still not enough and still starved!
IRB= INSTITUTIONAL review board.
Duh thanks!
This sounds strange, but buy some denture cleaner tablets (Fixodent is a good brand). Once every two weeks I let my retainers soak in a cup of water with the tablet for a few hours– squeaky clean!
O gosh I never thought to do that! Brilliant!
Clare, I know you said you were “too busy” to eat more or grab a snack…but damn, I eat more for breakfast than your b fast and lunch combined! I too have a busy schedule working full time, studying for the bar and going to crossfit everyday (plus being married and a fur mom) but I always make time to eat and pack snacks. For me, it’s a prioroty. I know people say it all the time, but you really need to think about the example you put out there. It doesn’t bother me because I know I need more fuel for myself but a young girl who looks up to you probably thinks she has to eat 1000 calories a day like you do in order to be “skinny”. I do enjoy your blog…but seriously start eating more instead of just saying “I went back for a few more bowl fulls of chocolate…”
It was an out of the ordinary day when things didn’t go According to plan. Everyone has days like that. On a regular day I plan and eat what my body asks for and needs. I have maintained a healthy stable weight for 5 years and so trust that days when I eat more and days when I eat less are all balancing out. It is different for each person.
yeah, except you seem to have a lot of “out of the ordinary” days.
