My body woke up naturally at 6. I considered going back to sleep for a few more minutes, but I know it feels way worse to wake up to an alarm so I just got up.
The drizzling rain wasn’t a problem since I planned to do some quick sprints at the gym. I’m still not running much, but a few times a week I’m trying to get in a short sprinting session for some anaerobic cardio. Just not as much focus on that distance stuff anymore.
I’ve been loving Tabata lately! In just four minutes Tabata
- Increases your basal metabolic rate (burn more calories at rest)
- Raises your aerobic AND anaerobic capacity
- Aids in muscle tissue retention.
All great things, right?! Here’s the workout I did, with 10.5mph being VERY fast for me. I was huffing and puffing through each 20 second interval. That’s GOOD – pretend you are being chased by something! – but choose a speed that fits YOUR level. I use the “Tabata Timer” app on my phone to keep track.
Total was about 3.4 miles in 24 minutes – not too shabby! Let me know if you try it!
Inspired by Holly’s outfit Saturday night (See it here!). She was wearing a simple dress all day but threw on a jean button down and this exact same leopard belt to change it up at night. Holly’s kind of great.

Talk to me people: Every tried Tabata? Do you wake up naturally or only to an alarm?
