Hope you had a great weekend. I was lucky enough to take Friday off and get in a trip to visit Brittany and Laura. Brittany is my best friend from when I lived in Louisville, and Laura is my best friend from Notre Dame. I usually try to get to them at least twice a year and this is going to be my last chance until the holidays. PLUS we had a big birthday to celebrate in Indianapolis!
First stop was Louisville where I arrived just in time for some delicious homemade fish tacos. Brittany always makes the best meals!! We caught up for a bit and then I met a friend for drinks. In the morning we went to Burn Bootcamp where Brittany is starting to teach! I was so excited to try it since there is a new one coming to St. Louis soon. It was awesome – they schedule the week so you hit all body parts and get in good metabolic conditioning. Plus it’s fun! Awesome group of ladies and great energy. Highly recommended.
After the workout we got to play with the kiddos for a few hours. They are so big now! They change so much while I’m gone and it’s like meeting new little people. Seriously adorable <3
(I got her these adorable sunglasses and she kept putting them on and sticking out her tongue haha!)
They were packing up to head to visit family, so I hit the road to drive up to Indianapolis where I met Laura at The Hot Room. The Hot Room has Bikram, vinyasa, mat pilates, hot pilates and more. It’s such an awesome place, and I always seem to visit for a glow class. This time it was InferGLO Hot Pilates! They had black lights and glow paint and a DJ. Laura co-taught and I took the class…such a sweaty blast!
After the workout we grabbed a late dinner with a few of Laura’s yoga friends at Stella before heading home. We had to get up early for more yoga! Laura taught the 8:30am Bikram class so I went to take it. The only time I do Bikram anymore is when I visit her!! (She actually wrote a post about starting Bikram for me a few years ago!) It’s so hot. So stretchy. I think the 60 minute version of Bikram is all I can handle these days. But Laura crushed it of course.
(Side note: As we were showing at the studio I saw that Laura was using Beautycounter!! I had no idea she used it too. We’re both into health lifestyles and healthy products, so of course we both found Beautycounter. She had the Tint Skin, Color Contour Matte Bronzer, and the Color Sweep Blush and then also uses the Charcoal bar to wash her face at home.)
After class we went home and made breakfast before falling asleep on the couch while watching What The Health. That movie is so frustrating. A few good points, but then taken to a whole new misleading, fear mongering level. Maybe that’s why I decided just to go to sleep.
We had a beer on the deck since it was a little too chilly (what!?) to go out on the water and then got ready for Mass and dinner. Dinner was to celebrate Laura’s 30th birthday coming up this Thursday, and we went to Sangrita Saloon in Broad Ripple. We had chips and guac and shared a kale salad before our tacos. And of course margs!
We are total goofballs together. She is just the best and I am so proud of her.
We listened to some live music and then decided to just go home and hang on the deck with her roommate. I was lame and fall asleep almost immediately but they stayed up dancing, apparently!! I missed out, but felt a lot better for Sunday morning’s workout. The Hot Room does a cool “Run Tone Flow” class on Sundays where you run to a nearby monument for some stair drills, then 30 minutes of pilates and 30 minutes of yoga. It was just what we needed!
We quickly showered and then got over to MilkTooth for brunch. It’s always ranked one of the best in Indy (if not in the country) and we waited over an hour for a table! Worth it though. The food was insane! I got this salmon salad on challah bread and we split donuts and the bacon was like 1/2 an inch thick. Such an interesting menu and completely to die for. Go there!!
Since brunch took so long I ended up having to leave right away afterward. I said my goodbyes and then hit the road because I had my aunt’s birthday dinner to get to back home. One meal to the next! I met my family at Katie’s Pizza and Pasta which was packed and delicious.
After dinner my brother’s girlfriend let us go over to see the new puppy, Milo and we played for so long. He’s just the cutest! He got sick with Parvovirus last week but thankfully is all better now.
I got home and crashed in bed to get some good sleep for this week of work. Monday was crazy busy already with lots of school physicals and little babies in for well child checks. So fun, but I’m ready to chill for a minute and get my life together.
Hope you’re week started out well! Tell me about your weekend. Also, tell me how old you are! I’m curious!
