Hey everyone! How was your weekend?
Mine flew by, but was a ton of fun. I kept myself pretty busy, but all with really fun stuff. Here’s what went on!
Friday night I taught my regular 5:30pm Power 60 yoga class. The theme was “trust the process.” I always try to pick something to talk about in class based on what’s going on in my life, and right now I’m totally trusting that I’ll be ready for clerkships in a few months even though I don’t feel remotely ready. The beauty is in the process — that’s where you grow and learn. Same goes for yoga! No destination or “perfect pose” — it’s all about the daily practice.
Friday night I hung out with my older brother and his softball team for a little while. Nothing crazy, but always fun to see him and a couple of friends from high school!
Saturday morning I watched Notre Dame lose to Navy, which is so frustrating but also expected given this season. I’m glad I got to see a win in person last weekend!! After the game I met my friend Stephanie for a long walk in Forest Park. She was watching her boyfriend’s dog, and I brought my roommate’s dog, and we spent a couple hours catching up on a beautiful day. I hadn’t had good girl talk with her in way too long!
After the walk I went to babysit. It’s a family that I regularly babysit for (I grew up next door to the dad) and the kids are adorable. We colored, played games, read books and watched some TV. The baby fell asleep on my lap too, which made me melt. So sweet!!
I was up early Sunday to go cheer on a few friends that were running a half marathon! It was actually my first time cheering a race instead of running – I think my distance running days are behind me! This was the race I ran with my best friend six (!!) years ago…I probably blogged about it! A bunch of us went with signs (even the kids I babysat made some signs!) and they all did SO WELL! Everyone PRed and even placed in their age ranges. I have speedy friends!!
After a little nap (I was out babysitting pretty late!) I joined some friends for lunch to celebrate my friend Torie’s birthday. We went to Cafe Osage and I was SO impressed. It’s connected to Bowood Farms, where they grow all their own produce, and also have an adorable home and gift shop on site. I could have spent hours looking at all the cute stuff!
Lunch was delicious. So many things on the menu looked great, but I ended up craving their cobb salad. Normally that would seem a little boring, but I knew with the fresh produce and homemade buttermilk ranch dressing it would be amazing. I was right!! I am not a huge tomato person, but these were out of this world! We also split some of their pumpkin bread as a table. I definitely want to go back to try more things! Highly recommended to any locals or visitors.
At 3:30 I went to my studio’s weekly restorative yoga classes. It’s so gently and calming — my eyes are closed most of the time, and it just feels incredible. I needed to slow down, stretch, and rest and that’s exactly what I got.
I stopped by my parents’ house on the way home, where the kids I had babysat the night before were next door at their grandparent’s house. They rang my doorbell and wanted to play, so we went down the slide for a little while! Pediatrics is sounding better and better…..
Now I’m home and we are finishing up game night! We have two board games going and a bunch of friends and dogs over. Perfect Sunday night before we start another class tomorrow.
A full, fun, exhausting weekend! Can’t ask for more.
