I finally got my voice back and started to feel better from my cold just in time for a fun weekend!
Saturday morning I finally got back to the yoga studio for the first time in a week. I had been doing some nice, short home practices (in my new office / yoga studio / dog room) but it felt so good to be back taking class with others and sweating all the yuck away.
Later that afternoon I attended a wedding of a good friend that I grew up Irish dancing with. She asked a few friends and I to play some Irish music at her small ceremony, which was such an honor! They didn’t want anything huge or formal, so the wedding itself was in a beautiful spot they picked in Forest Park. Short, sweet, love-filled and perfect.
That night they had a reception for a bigger group of family and friends at the Botanical Gardens. It’s actually the spot where my little brother is having his rehearsal dinner next year, so it was fun to see it in use!
Here are the girls — the four of us grew up Irish Dancing together for 13+ years. We’ve travelled all over the country and even the world together, competing, performing and being goofballs. It was so great to be back together <3
And they had the coolest thing at the wedding: Dancakes! Dan will take any photo you give him and turn it into a pancake…ON the spot. Like in 30 seconds he will create your dog, your face, your city’s skyline…ANYTHING. And it’s amazing. And you can eat it!! Or you can freeze it because it’s too pretty to eat.
They had a huge crowd all night. Such a hit and fun idea for a wedding!! Here is a pup they did..
Everyone was in awe.
Sunday I slept in (ahhhh) and eventually had dinner at my parents house. My mom gave me some of her old scrubs! No idea where she found these, but apparently she kept them for over 30 years. They are from her residency!
And then this morning I got a huge treat – Brittany is in town!!! I got to join them at the zoo and watch Baby (big kid) D ROAR with the lions, and also got to meet Baby D2 for the first time. She’s such a calm sweetie. It’s always so good to see that family. They are such amazing people and I miss living near them in Louisville so much. Brittany always asks when I’m coming “home” 🙂
Now I’m back to work! Lots of reading for research and Yoga Teacher Training to do. It’s all super interesting though, so no complaints here!
Hope you all had a great weekend as well!!!
