Hi from Philly!
I flew in with my parents last night (which was so weird – hadn’t travelled with my parents since high school!) and my brothers and sister-in-law had arrived earlier in the day. It’s the first time we’re all together since my little brother’s wedding in May! I can’t wait to see one of my oldest and best friends get married, and of course to dance the night away with other friends I haven’t seen in forever.
Hope you all have a fun weekend planned – maybe some good Fall weather finally?
Here’s this week’s Weekly Recap:
These pants drive me nuts. They are LONGS and they they have still shrunk up and now fit me really funny. Any recommendations for long work pants that actually stay long?
Pork tenderloin. I bought a teriyaki marinated one on sale and have eating it with rice and veggies all week. S
Supercharge Me’s. Made them again because they are delicious. Unfortunately I think they upset my stomach.
Taco Tuesday! The hospital cafeteria had been advertising tacos forever and they never came, but Tuesday I was able to get chicken and beef tacos and it (sort of sadly) made my day!
Cafeteria salads – My usual lunch at the hospital is mixed greens, a mix of grilled and buffalo chicken, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, mushrooms, and either honey mustard or blue cheese dressing. And then lots of afternoon snacks.
Mon: PLNK. Class flew by this week! Abs insanely sore as usual.
Tues: Ran 3 miles. With no music because my phone died. And I got a blister. But I did it because I needed the stress relief and I felt much better after a good sweat!
Wed: Title Boxing Club. Members can bring friends free this month and we had a total blast! SO sweaty!!
Thurs: Power 60 at Metro Power Yoga. Glorious as usual.
Fri: Off – travel to Philly
Sat: Heading to the hotel gym to mess around soon!
Only one more week of Internal Medicine left! This one was a struggle for everyone, it seemed. I think the end is in sight so everyone is just ready to be finished and have a little break. This weekend off is a nice break, but I’m slightly anxious about being away the weekend before my Internal Medicine shelf exam. I’m going to have to balance celebrating and hanging out with my family with getting some necessary studying done.
This week’s cases included a really sad case of metastatic breast cancer in a woman that is far too young, a complex migraine, a couple of complicated pneumonias, acute renal failure, hepatic encephalopathy, and heroin addiction with arm abscesses. I’m also learning a lot from the different styles of my two attendings. I’m not just here to learn the medicine – I also need to learn how to be a doctor, and seeing how different bedside manners affect the patients is really important.
As usual, I’m happiest when I’m in the room talking one-on-one with patients! Just reinforcing that I love patient care even on the hard, long days of studying.
The new holiday line was just released! There are so many new products, shades, and gift sets. I plan to to buy a few gift sets and mix and match some make up and skincare for friends. I’m eying the illuminating trio, multi-mask set, glow and go mini face oils, and the new shades of lip sheer! Also, the mens line comes out in a few weeks!
Specials to note:
- Shop One, Share One: When you buy a glow and go mini face oil set, Beautycounter will donate one to the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center to give to a patient battling cancer. And after working in hospitals for a while, the idea of making a patient feel beautiful and pampered just makes my heart sing <3
- Free #1 Brightening Oil! To celebrate the #1 Brightening Face Oil being ranked as a 2017 Allure Best of Beauty Winner, the current Band of Beauty reward is a free full sized #1 face oil! ($68 value.) Band of Beauty is a yearly membership that gets you product credits every time you shop, free shipping over $100, and special deals released periodically. If you sign up and make a $50 purchase, that face oil is all yours. This won’t last long – i truly have no idea how long it’s going on for, but I wouldn’t guess any more than a week, so take advantage! Idea: Get this deal, then use your product credits to buy some of the holiday line for gifts!!
As usually, send any questions about products, hosting socials (to get free products!), or being a consultant my way.
Have a great weekend!
