I’ve got two weeks work to catch you up on today!
I’m on a flight right now – off to Hilton Head for a long weekend reunion with my best girlfriends from college. My original plane had some mechanical issues and I ended up having to rebook, so the day’s plans are slightly off and I’m missing spending the day in Savannah! Instead of making the day a total waste, I decided to buy the airline internet and get some work done.
Here is my weekly recap!
Just one this week! And won’t be many coming up since we mostly wear scrubs for OBGYN. The good life:)
Hard boiled eggs. I made some to bring to the hospital with me and eat a little later in the morning. It’s too early for me to be super hungry when I wake up, but a I need some good protein to get me through till lunch! Hardboiled eggs are the most convenient thing to do. Plus some fruit usually.
UberEats! St. Louis is moving on up in the world and finally got UberEats. They sent me a coupon code to try it out and my roommate and I had Taze delivered – basically Chipotle for mediterranean food. YUM! There was a little snafu with the driver’s directions, but after that It was SO NICE to have restaurant food brought to my door. This is how you city people always live!! You can use this code for $5 off your UberEats order: wzq1y
I’ve traveled so much lately that I haven’t done a whole lot of grocery shopping and meal prep. I’ve been having salads or soup at the cafeteria for lunch (soup because it is SO COLD in the hospital!) and have been having totally lazy cheesy eggs or carry out. Once I get back into the swing of school with OBGYN I’ll have my weekends to get back on the cooking train!
This week only, because I can’t remember the workouts I did last week.
M: 30 min mixture of run/walk/sprints + heavy leg day.
T: 30 min walk + heavy arms
Th: Off – traveling
Fri: Likely a yoga class or gym workout.
I technically started my OB/GYN clerkship this week, but my first two weeks are elective time so I’m not in the hospital. I have been getting so much done already! All those little life things that I had been putting off — cleaning, returns, emails, appointments, catching up on blog work, finally working on more Beautycounter! It feels so good.
The main thing I’m doing during this elective time is an eating disorder project. I’m creating a hospital protocol for treating adult inpatients with eating disorders, starting with Anorexia. I saw the need for this after working on the psychiatry consult team earlier this year. There was a young lady with quite severe Anorexia Nervosa, and the medicine teams were scrambling to figure out how to handle her. We ended up having to consult the adolescent team at the pediatric hospital since they are so much more familiar with eating disorders. So I’m using the pediatric protocol as a starting point and working with other physicians, psychologists, and the legal team at the hospital to create guidelines to help treat adults. It’ll take me longer than just these two weeks, but I’m really excited to make this happen!
What I’m Loving
Lavendar Melon Kevita Kombucha. I always stuck to my Trilogy, but they were out one day and I gave this one a try. It’s SO GOOD!!!
The new COUNTERMATCH LINE! Guys, when the Countermatch lotion was released last year it sold out in days. It’s the lotion I use every morning and is so great at keeping your skin hydrated all day long. Released TODAY – the line now has expanded to include a serum, night cream, and – the thing I’m most excited about – eye cream designed to help with dark circles! I love the Rejuvenating line, but it is geared more toward fine lines and wrinkles which luckily isn’t the biggest deal for me yet. Countermatch is meant for brightening and hydration, which is exactly what I want right now. So you better believe I bought this — not letting it sell out on me!
If you’ve been wondering how to create a skincare regimen perfect for you, feel free to email me and definitely join my Facebook group where I share more info (and a giveaway right now!!). I’ve tried a lot of the products, and am actually paring down my usage to only the things I find most valuable. No need to have 17 different things on your skin every day. I’d love to share my experience with you, because if you’re like me, you wanted good quality skincare but had no idea how to mix and match products and what to actually invest in. Plus I have some extra product and could very likely send some samples your way;)
“First Date” lipstick. I never thought I’d be a bright pink lipstick wearer! I got the Holiday Lip Intense set and am having so much fun trying the new colors and deciding which friends to gift them too. I tried First Date on just for fun, since it’s so unlike anything I usually wear, and I think it’s my new favorite!
I ordered these Vionic slip ons. The brand was recommended to me because it has great arch support and is still actually pretty cute!! So I’m seeing how I like these. If they work, I may buy a few more styles for the hospital. Pricey, but worth it to spare my feet and back.
