Happy Saturday!! I’m writing to you from my couch. I have a big blanket, a candle lit, and college football in the background. A perfect Saturday!!
This past week was a strange one due to working the night shift, and I’m currently attempting to regain a normal sleeps schedule. It hasn’t been easy (I was awake in the middle of the night last night) but I’m hoping another day is all it takes. My roommate has been so good about forcing me to wake up even when I don’t want to!
I’m about to head to a hot yoga class, then some grocery shopping and cooking for Friendsgiving tonight. With the Notre Dame game on in the background, of course. I’m still recovering from last week’s disaster, but trying to keep my head up:)
Hope you enjoy the Weekly Recap!
Eggs and toast for my “breakfast.” around 4:30pm.
Grocery store salad bar for my midnight dinner almost every day.
We ordered pizza on our last night. I was all, “I’m actually not that hungry but i might have a slice later,” and then I think I was the first person to dig in 🙂
Tons of other snacks – cookies, mixed nuts, Vega shakes, hot chocolate from the hospital.
I can’t WAIT to be in a better workout routine!! But for this week of strangeness, yoga was what my body wanted.

This past week was my week of Labor and Delivery nights, in case you missed that! SO many of you said you loved following along with my Instagram stories and I’m so glad!! Labor and Delivery is exciting and (usually) happy, so it lends itself to sharing a little more about what happens. I wrote a lot more about the week in this post.
I found learning how to manage pregnancies really interesting. There was definitely a little “art of medicine” thrown in with the science. It was also pretty eye opening as to the complications that can go on and the major addiction problems we have. It’s heartbreaking to see moms that are using drugs but also care so deeply for their babies. It only increased my passion for mental health and psychiatric conditions.
Things I realized: 1. I have very little interest in ever doing cervical checks. Of all the things that go on in medicine, that one just makes me a little uncomfortable. I’m sure once I was actually taught, it would just become routine and clinical. 2. I think it would take me a lot of time to feel confident that I wasn’t going to hurt the baby when I hand my hand around his head checking positioning, or pulling on its head and neck to deliver the rest of the body. Nothing ever happens (and these doctors are well trained!)! but it’s scary from the outside looking in!
Next up is Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and I’m excited to learn more about the hormonal issues and more. I’m at an age where people are struggling with this, so it’ll be great to have a firmer grip on the topic. Let me know if you have any questions you want me to get answered!
Why Buying Beautycounter From Your Friends is Actually Worth It <–love when we get press that highlights the safety and quality of the products!
“So why is it so buzzy?…The brand has actually created a glossary that lists every single ingredient used in its products, giving you the full-disclosure of what’s applied on your skin. There’s also the very important fact that the products perform”
Healing Your Hormones <–love all the info in this post and the integrative medicine approach she takes in her care. I just love Robyn, basically.
What I’m Loving:
My eye mask. I sometimes get made fun of for having one, but it made ALL the difference when I was sleeping in the middle of the day!! Mine is pretty old though, so I may ask for a new one for Christmas! They make such cute ones now — loving this one that comes with a freezable gel inset great for puffy eyes, this one is freaking adorable, and this one is great for guys too!
HelloFresh’s new Flavour Generator! Ever had a craving for a certain type of food, but just have no idea what to cook or how to cook it? This solves that problem — enter what you’re in the mood for and what flavors you like and it gives you a few recipes to try! Choose from Asian, Mediterranean, Mexican, Middle Eastern, and Modoz (I had to google that one.) Love this idea so much. (Sponsored.)
Making gift guides! I adore giving gifts, and love putting together my favorite ideas. Lots of guides coming your way in the next few weeks!
Have a great rest of the weekend, friends!!
