I took a little break from posting while I was studying for my OBGYN final this past week. (For all of you that ask how I “do it all” — I don’t!! My side gigs like this blog are set aside when I have a lot of school to focus on. I’m going to write a bigger post on balancing all of this over break.) But now that that test is over I am FREE for two whole weeks! I’m catching up on SO much life outside of school and my to-do list is a mile long. I’ll be busy with all of that until I leave for New York on Tuesday. And then I’ll be spending Christmas and New Years in Hilton Head with my family.
Here’s this week’s Weekly Recap!
It was mostly scrubs again this week, except for my OSCE (clinical exam) on Thursday when I had to wear real people clothes. I wore my black Martie pants and this new Banana sweater in olive green -fits like a dream.
Last night I had a Christmas party to attend with my family, and wore a new wrap skirt! I used a birthday gift card and Black Friday deals to do a little shopping (including the above sweater) and love everything I got. Can you tell I olive green is kind of my color? My mom told me that when I was little and I thought it was SO ugly, but now I’m embracing it. Here are links to my top, similar heels, sparkly earrings, and bracelets (one, two).
I ate mostly at the hospital for breakfast and lunch again this week. Dinners were a mix of kale, zucchini and peppers sautéed in pesto topped with chicken. One day the hospital provided free lunch for a Christmas celebration and it was chicken, mashed potatoes, mixed veggies, a salad and an absolutely delicious cheesecake.
Once I was finished at the hospital I started making myself egg and avocado toast for breakfast. I’ve also picked up random salads and soups while out since I didn’t have groceries and I’m leaving town soon!

I’m finished with my fourth clerkship! It’s crazy that I’m 2/3 of the way through my third year of medical school. Didn’t I just start?
OBGYN was a great few months. It was interesting, the residents and physicians were all nice, and the schedule was pretty relaxed despite the early mornings. A much appreciated change after a crazy busy few months of Internal Medicine! Next up is pediatrics and then I finished with surgery.
I’ll also start planning out my fourth year schedule soon. That will including taking USMLE Step Two (my second round of boards), a Sub-internship in whatever I decide to go into, and then a bunch of other electives. I’m hoping to apply to some cool electives at other schools as well! I’m SO excited to finally start focusing on things that interest me. It gets frustrating to have to spend time working in areas I’m not as into, even though I 100% understand the need and value of it from an education standpoint. I can’t believe that a few months from now I will have decided what type of doctor I want to be!!
Oh goodness, TONS. I’m really loving the Mad In America website lately. Definitely check it out if you’re into mental health.
11 Wellness Trends To Watch in 2018 — the most interesting thing I’ve read in a while. I am so fascinated in EVERY single item on this list, each for different reasons.

What I’m Loving:
Face Oils. My current obsession. I switch between #1 brightening and #3 balancing, but am going to try the #2 plumping soon. I had only been using a few drops here and there, but when you use a little more and really slather your whole face, it looks and feels amazing! And also makes your make up (like Dew Skin or Tint Skin) go on like buttahhh.
This amazing Halston dress. (Love almost anything Halston, to be honest.)
Ozark! Just started watching it and I think it’s pretty good! (Also, a hilarious representation of my home state.)
Two new members on my Beautycounter Team!! So excited to see you grow and rock this, Sarah and Ali! If you’re at all interested in learning more, request to join the opportunity Facebook group. ALL the info you could ever want on there!
Christmas shopping. I’m STILL going, can’t stop. I just love gifting and keep finding little things my friends and family will love. (I love you Amazon Prime)
This poem by Jen. She just makes the most incredible, gorgeous, inspiring art. So excited to get it framed and hung. My plan is to one day have a beautiful, calm yoga and meditation space to hang it in!
Have a great weekend! xoxo
