I’m getting this post done while I wait for my boyfriend to wake up. He’s here this weekend, which is such a treat!! It’s been a month since since I’ve seen him because we both have a million things going on – way too long! My OBGYN final is on Friday so I have to study this weekend, but at least I get to study next to him.
(This quote is getting me through right now!)
Here’s my weekly recap!
Scrubs and workout clothes, that’s about it!
Last night I wore this outfit to see Christmas lights (no pic!): $17 green & blue plaid flannel || $30 long black cardigan ||My favorite black jeans that come in LONG!! || grey booties (this year’s version) || The most complimented 35% off black winter coat!
Cheesy eggs & fruit at the hospital for breakfast almost every day, since we round at 6:45am in the cafeteria.
Hospital salads for lunch – mixed greens, beans, carrots, cucumber, chicken, feta, and honey mustard dressing. I’ve been getting the chicken tenders instead of grilled chicken this week and they’re so. good.
Salmon, roasted veggies and avocado for dinner a couple of nights.
Mini chocolates that the medical librarian gives out:)
Mon: PLNK (class pass – use this link to get $30 off!)
Tues: Power Yoga at Yoga Six (class pass)
Wed: Free Hatha yoga at school (one of the physicians teaches!)
Thurs: Metro Power Yoga
Fri: 30 min lower body and core video that I found online
I’ve shared a little about my experience with Gyn Surgery on Instagram. It’s been fairly relaxed, since after we round we just hang out until the surgery we are going to. Some days that’s only one 2 hours surgery, some days the surgery is 6 hours, other days there are enough for us to go to multiple. We’ve actually been busier than previous groups because a lot of people try to get their surgeries in before the end of the year! So far I’ve scrubbed in on a laparoscopic endometriosis adhesion removal and a vaginal hysterectomy, and I’ve watched a hysteroscopy with D&C and polypectomy and a laparoscopic myomectomy.
I can definitely see the appeal of OBGYN as a specialty! There is so much variety. You can do outpatient clinic, procedures, births and c-sections, and tons of different types of other surgeries. I think a lot of people in my class are strongly considering it now that hadn’t been before! It’s getting more and more popular (and competitive!) each year. I definitely enjoy it, but there are parts that don’t seem like the best fit, so I’m still leaning toward my primary care/psychiatry plan!
What I’m Loving:
That my boyfriend is here, first of all! He’s just the best.
I’ve found/read lots of good medical articles or scientific studies. I’ve been sharing them in my insta stories, but here are links to a few: The Disillusioned Psychiatrist, Being A Doctor Is Hard, It’s Harder For Women, and the #GirlsWhoHeal campaign right now is so great!!
I got a new basket to hold all my Beautycounter goodies! My sink was getting a little cluttered. My current fav is the citrus mimosa body butter. It is pure, whipped, heaven for the skin! I also finally got a Nudes Eye Palette right before they sold out (nooo!) and everyone wasn’t lying – the colors are so pigmented!! It’s amazing! And for those of you that missed out on the limited quantity of the men’s shave set, a WHOLE men’s line is coming soon!!
Super Charge Me Cookies are 100% the easiest and best ever. They take 5 minutes to throw together, 11 minutes int he oven, and taste so amazing that even my boyfriend keeps going back for more.
Gift guides. I can’t get enough! I wish I could give everyone I know a million gifts. (Here’s what I’ve actually bought as gifts so far!)
Christmas scents! I love our candles and oils around the house that make it smell so festive all day.
Have a great weekend, everyone!!
